Spend three hours learning how to capture 'streaking' car and bus lights as the sun sets and darkness falls
This is not simply pointing your camera at moving lights and hoping for the best
This is a hands on learning experience where you will discover how to control your camera in low light, master long exposures, and capture light trails with intention rather than luck
You will also learn how to 'pan' a subject
Wide lenses are best for streaking lights and panning techniques
How to shoot in Aperture mode
Understanding shutter speeds and how to choose the right speed to create light trails, not motion blur
Aperture and ISO - getting correct exposure in low light conditions
How to use a tripod correctly for sharp, stable long exposure shots
Panning technique - how to move with a subject to create striking motion while keeping it sharp
Focus techniques - how to nail focus in the dark when you camera wants to hunt
Composition for light trails - framing your shot before the light even moves through it
Your camera
A tripod - essential for this workshop - let me know if you don't have one, I will lend you one
A fully charged battery and spare if you have one - it will be cold and batteries drain quickly, partcularly mirrorless cameras
Comfortable, warm clothing - we'll be outside after dark, so dress for evening temps
Torch or similar so you can see your camera settings
This workshop is perfect for you if you've ever seen stunning light trail photos and wondered how they're actually made, or you've tried it yourself with results that didn't quite hit the mark.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or you have some experience, this session is designed to meet you exactly where you are..
In a small group of just 6, you'll get real hands on guidance as we work together to photograph streaking lights and panning shots, so you leave with images you're genuinely proud of and skills you'll use long after the day is done.

With 40 years behind the camera and 17 years teaching others how to see the world through their camera, I've helped thousands of photographers go from 'I just don't get my camera' to capturing images they're genuinely proud of
As the founder of Learn How To Photograph, I've built a community of over 1.4 million people across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook who are learning to slow down, look closer and shoot with confidence, in not only their camera, but themselves
And if you're a bit old school like me and you prefer to learn at a slower, kinder, more gentle pace, without judgement or assuming you already have a level of knowledge, this is for you
I am so looking forward to walking alongside you on your photography journey for a few hours to help you capture the shot you saw
